The first step is to tell us which distro and which version you have. The second step is to read some UserBase pages. Start with http://userbase.kde.org/Akonadi_4.4/Troubleshooting and read also the linked pages.

Hi,
thank you for trying out KDEPIM on Windows, we are working hard at the moment to provide usable packages with the KDE-Windows Installer, as you may have noticed they are marked as UNSTABLE atm and we discussed if we should include them at all in the installer. Akonadi / Nepomuk from the current KDE-Windows Installer Packages do not work. We are currently working on it to fix that. At the moment your best bet is to install and configure Mysql Server and Virtuoso Server, which are the backends of Akonadi and Nepomuk yourself. The process is partly described in userbase, or use the development packages published at: http://wiki.kolab.org/index.php/Kontact_for_Windows_%28Enterprise-5%29 but even then your experience will be that of a unstable experimental software that is targeted at developers to fix the issues. As you may know KDEPIM itself was not in a very good shape at the time of the 4.4 Release so we are currently focusing on fixing it so that we can release a late Beta state for 4.5 (on Windows) Kontact with Akonadi and Nepomuk will provide a great Windows PIM software soon, you just tried it out at a particular bad time for us ![]() Please do not feel like we wasted your time and try it again with the next release. Greetings Andre P.S. As some kind of expert on the KDEPIM Windows releases i felt particulary bad about your posting and even created a new board account to apologize

Hi,
Thanks a lot for your precise answer and thanks for the work you do on KDE-windows I will try to install it later when a stable release will exist. For me KDE on windows is a way to try KDE apps and to determinate if its a good things to emigrate to Kubuntu or OpenSuse and how to handle it with all my documents mail etc... Also it's not a major problem for me and I can wait , using windows and MSapps , as long as I'm not sure that a linux using is not "risk free" for all the uses I need. Don't feel bad about it as a beginner in C++ QT4 software devellopement I know how its hard and long to write a software and track all bugs... |
