Having problems running the KDE under win7. When the installation ends and the control panel is displayed it gives me an error "no views found".
Can anyone help me resolve this problem? Thanks in advance! |

What "control panel" are you talking about exactly?

Probably SystemSettings - KDE's equivalent of the control panel (there's a checkbox on the last page of the installer to launch it when the installer finishes).
This sounds like either a permissions issue or a bad install. SystemSettings detects what config items are available by looking in certain places in the KDE install directory.

In this case, System Settings is failing to load it's own plugins which provide the two views: classic and icons. You should check your installation and run kbuildsycoca4.

Could you please rerun the kdewin-installer with your settings, and update the packages? This should normally fix the problem.
If it persists, please make sure that you have an executable update-mime-database.exe in the subfolder bin of your installation directory. If you have this executable, start a command prompt with administrator rights, go to the KDE install location and run the following commands: bin\update-mime-database.exe %CD%\share\mime bin\kbuildsycoca4.exe --noincremental After these two commands, start the system settings by calling bin\systemsettings.exe and it should work again.

Well sorry but it works here under win7, as well as on several other win7 machines I installed this on. Your computer is the exception and we're only trying to help you solve this problem. |

Thanks for help, guys, i really appreciate it, but ill stick with the win look since i don't use windows that much (only for one game).
P. S. KDE3 is much better than 4, in my opinion. |

I am running Konqueror on Windows XP as I type. Many thanks to the KDE development team that made this happen. You guys have come a long way with this project.
