Unable to install Kile on Windows7

Fri Jun 17, 2011 5:20 pm
Hello every one...Im a Ubuntu 11.04 and Windows 7 user. I've got Kileinstalled in Ubuntu and Im trying to install Kile in Windows7 too. After searching I found a Kdewin-installer-latest-gui.exe,after following all the steps and downloading some 70 MB of kile files and installation, the setup doesnot respond in post processing(after 25% completion,Tried installing thrice but in vain. Stopped at the same point all the three times).

The processing window says

25%
updating mimedatabase
updating systemconfiguration database

This may be because the current version of Kile is not compatible with the most recent version of KDE for Windows; unfortunately, KDE for Windows is lagging behind KDE for Linux.

You may have better luck posting this in the Operating Systems>Windows forum as there has been previous discussion of this issue there. Perhaps a moderator will move it for you.

Unfortunately no, there's no fix for this for the time being.

Just need to wait a bit longer until the windows team fixes up KDE some more, like it said, it's still in the alpha stages and it's got a long way to go to make a fully function system that'll be a nice alternative to the explorer shell.
