Hi,
I build the KDE Frameworks 5 Version of Kate via Homebrew --> https://github.com/haraldF/homebrew-kf5 The Framworks and Kate so far compiled fine without any further issues and created some .app-Bundles. However, Kate doesn't contain any menubaricons, as well as no sidebars and plugins. It seams, cmake installed them somewhere and Kate and klauncher search for it somewhere else. Does anybody got around this issue or have any hints? |

Do you have the Oxygen icon set installed?

Yes I have, but they don't appear in the application. Should be the same issue as with the non existing sidebars ... and could be related to the klauncher warning seen in the screenshot. |

To what location is Kate installed, and where is the Oxygen icon set installed?

Are the variables XDG_DATA_DIRS or XDG_CONFIG_DIRS set, and if so - what are their values?
If these values aren't set, then it is not possible for Kate to find it's plugins, nor is it possible for it to find the Oxygen icon theme.

Ok, where are these variables set respectively how can I access and check them? |

These variables are usually set in a terminal. In most cases they don't need to be set as the built in defaults are sufficient - but this is only the case when all KDE components are installed in the same prefix, which does not appear to be the case here.
