Hi. I am trying to install kile on my mac with no luck. I went to all the trouble of installing Xcode and fink from source. I followed the instructions online to set up fink (selfupdate, update-all, enable unstable). When running fink install kile I get,

Hi,

when I used fink I got pretty well support at the Fink Beginners Mailinglist: http://www.finkproject.org/lists/fink-beginners.php

I have a runnig native KILE installation using MacPorts with QT4 and TeXLive/MacTeX. Mabe you can try this.

Has anyone fixed the native kile build for mac using macports???

Whitehotaru says he has it running natively, but I don't think it's currently possible, I haven't found anyone on any mailing lists I've searched through that has a working version currently.

Well my variants.conf has
Code: Select all
+quartz+no_x11
in it. My whole qt4-mac is compiled without x11 and my KILE ist kile-devel@2.1b5. Works pretty good for me.

If you have problems, file a bug report and/or report to the macports users mailinglist. I got a lot of help pretty fast when I had problems in the past.

Were those the flags on your qt-4 installation?? How do I implement those things?

I think +quartz is the default setting for qt4-mac. My first install worked out of the box. KILE was the reason I changed from fink to macports in the first place. I had some difficulties during qt4 updates in the past. I trie to avoid them whenever possible, because it takes houres to compile. Every time I had errors I got fast help after filing a bug report.

I'm just an advanced user. If you have more specific problems try the macport users mailinglist and it's archives.

Greetings
Thomas
