These guys couldn't help me either. I've given up, since I was running out of time. I've reinstalled from scratch, with the same config, and it all works perfectly fine once again.

Also, the lack of authorization could indicate that PolicyKit or ConsoleKit are having problems with your account - so make sure they are both running (polkitd and console-kit-daemon respectively, running as root).
