My question was triggered by a recent wikipedia article comparing various linux desktops. In the article wikipedia states that kde 4 requires approximately 210MB for an install, but did not say if they were talking about system ram or hard drive space. Does anyone
know the answer? The reason I ask is because I am planning an upgrade of my system, but my budget is tight and if I can squeze more performance out of my existing hardware by altering my software as opposed to bying new equipment would be a great help. |

it's dasd and it's not described as a full featured install but as a "base" install on a "basic" Debian system

If you want advice on new equipment vrs updating what you already have you should ask in a new thread and include:
- existing hardware (detailed) - uses of the system - budget - issues experienced with current setup |
