I am having trouble adding software packages (in this case, KDE) using the new Fedora V9 Package Mgr Kit .Yo be precise, nothing happens when hit the "install" button, as ROOT). Root does not work with this new feature (you read that right).
Others have experienced similar problems, and a workaround might be to use a user with extra privileges in the sudoers file updated with visudo. This may work, but it's deeper than I want to get. My situation is this, without getting into the intricacies of sudo privileged users using the new F9 Package Manager. I've just upgraded/installed-over from V8 to V9, KDE is NOT installed as part of the process, and I just want to install it (KDE). Is there a cmd line cmd (Yum?) I can use to just get KDE installed. and if so, what is it please? I want to get KDE up and installed first, and will look at sudoers and visudo lat a later time. Thanks George |

A person here is having the exact same problem as you. There is a solution there I believe.
KDE Sysadmin

As best I recall: yum groupinstall KDE (KDE Desktop Environment) or very, very similar George |
