Laptop screen doesn't wakeup

Mon Apr 28, 2014 10:21 pm
I have just installed Linux 3.11.10-7-desktop on my HP Pavilion dv5000. All functions seem to work well except anytime the screen goes dark for hibernation or closing the lid. When this happens I am unable to bring the screen back to life. To recover from this problem I must force a shutdown with the power button to reboot. An suggestions would be appreciated.

Do you see a background picture and the mouse cursor after resume?

Then it would most likely be this bug:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=329076

This should be fixed in KDE Workspace 4.11.9, but workarounds include:
- disable "Lock screen after resume" in the Powermanagement settings ("Advanced")
- enable "Require Password after" in the Screen locker settings
- switch to a text console by pressing Ctrl+Alt+F1 and enter "killall kscreenlocker_greet", then switch back with Ctrl+Alt+F7. You should get a password input dialog then
