Hello folks,
I tried to install Kubuntu as well as Mint KDE. In both cases the same problem: As soon as the process reaches the point, where I should decide to install the system or just try it out and also select the language, the graphic gets strangly destroyed. Its still kind of possible to read certain buttons when you hover over them with the mouse. The problem stays when I click "Try out". The system starts but is almost unusable. Then I installed Ubuntu instead. The graphic wasn't destorted, but the system freezes many times and only a cold shutdown was possible then. But within Ubuntu I managed to install a different graphic-driver (NVidia legacy binary driver instead of x.org-x-server) and the problems were gone. After installing KDE on top of Ubuntu even that worked. The graphic-card is an onboard GeForce 7050 PV. Do you have an idea, how the problem could be solved, so a direct install of Kubuntu would work too? Best greetings, Harkan from Germany |

You could have tried to boot the system in failsafe mode - it was likely Desktop Effects triggering this.
