I have a new install of Fedora 23 which has the default Gnome desktop manager. I want to switch to KDE, which I installed with the command "dnf install @kde-desktop". I also installed kdm and sddm. Currently, sddm is running.
But I cannot switch to KDE. There is no KDE session option when I login, only options for Gnome. I installed kde with "dnf install @kde-desktop". I tried the groupinstall already earlier, but I get this error when I run "dnf group install "KDE Plasma Workspaces" ": Error: Transaction check error: file /etc/logrotate.d/syslog from install of rsyslog-8.10.0-1.fc23.x86_64 conflicts with file from package syslog-ng-3.6.2-3.fc23.x86_64 Many thanks. |

No idea regarding Fedora but the error message just means you can't concurrently install 2 distinct log daemons (syslog-ng & loggrotate), it isn't related specifically to KDE.
this post https://ask.fedoraproject.org/en/questi ... fedora-21/ implies the command

Thanks. I tried this command now, but I get exactly the same error message. |

I think this may be more appropriate for the official Fedora forum
I'm not familiar with yum nor Fedora and not sure whether or not there's an "=" required as the link I suggested doesn't use it but the man page does (could be why the error). You can exclude the syslog-ng which I think is the one attempting to install with the following. Also, you should determine which log daemon is prefered in 23 try:
ps the 2nd exclude may be redundant if the log pkg is included in "ferdora-release" |
