Hello . . .
First post. If this is the wrong area then please redirect it. Thank You. Yesterday I downloaded Kubuntu 16.04 and after some minor inconveniences I was able to boot up and login. I looked for a method to install the remainder of KDE but I ran into problems. The meta packages kubuntu-full and kubuntu-desktop apparently installed nothing as the two install details show. " (Reading database ... 159496 files and directories currently installed.) Preparing to unpack .../kubuntu-full_1.338_amd64.deb ... Unpacking kubuntu-full (1.338) over (1.338) ... Setting up kubuntu-full (1.338) ... " " (Reading database ... 159496 files and directories currently installed.) Preparing to unpack .../kubuntu-desktop_1.338_amd64.deb ... Unpacking kubuntu-desktop (1.338) over (1.338) ... Setting up kubuntu-desktop (1.338) ... " I have already queried a Kubuntu forum with negative results. My searches have brought up the fact that kde-full and other meta packages are no longer packaged. Does KDE have a meta package that will install the remainder of the files? Hopefully Kubuntu has it. I have many years ago loaded the remainder of the files individually but it is a last resort. Any help appreciated. pmb |

really is a packaging question and thus most appropriate on the Kubuntu forums
as fair as I've read what you've done is correct, at least if you were adding KDE to a non-KDE Ubuntu install what packages aren't installed? could they they be from KDE Extra? Could it be that what you have is what Kubuntu considers a base install? moved to the Operating System Specific -> Linux forum |
