Trying To Locate Printer Path

Mon Jun 13, 2016 12:45 pm
I use kubuntu.
I have a utility that will enable me to determine the ink levels of my Epson Stylus SX100 printer.
However, I need to know the path of the printer.
I thought that it might be /dev/usb/lp0.
/dev exists, but /dev/usb does not.

Can anyone tell me the path, and how I could locate it?

Thanks

Have you tried a "locate lp0"? Is it a usb printer?

Plenty of questions, you need to provide more info, please.

andrew@andrew-Dell-DM061:~$

It is a usb printer

What does 'localhost:631/printers/Stylus-SX100 mean?

From the data:

Description:
EPSON Stylus SX100
Location: andrew-Dell-DM061
Driver: Epson Stylus SX100 - CUPS+Gutenprint v5.2.10-pre2 (color, 2-sided printing)
Connection: usb://EPSON/Stylus%20SX100?serial=KQEZ3 ... nterface=1
Defaults: job-sheets=none, none media=iso_a4_210x297mm sides=one-sided

Is the path, /EPSON/Stylus... following usb://...in Connection?

Sorry for the late reply.

Try putting localhost:631 into your browser and you'll get the cups interface. Perhaps you'll find the address in there. Alternatively "lpoptions" may give you the desired path.

As you can see from my previous post,I located what I thought might be the uri.

Using lpoptions, I see:

device-uri=usb://EPSON/Stylus%20SX100?serial=KQEZ387420&interface=1.

I am sure that this is the path, but it looks very unusual with all the codes and characters. I expected to find the equivalent of /dev/usb/lp0 which looks like a proper path.

Can you explain why I cannot find such a path?

I have tried to determine the ink levels in my cartridges using:

escputil --raw-device-uri=usb://EPSON/Stylus%20SX100?serial=KQEZ387420&interface=1--ink-level

But I am not seeing the data.

Can you advise

How do the below, eg, 001 relate to usb://EPSON/Stylus%20SX100?serial=KQEZ3 ... nterface=1

andrew@andrew-Dell-DM061:/dev/bus/usb$ ls
001 002 003 004 005 006 007

I need a proper path for escputil so that I can determine the ink levels
