Hello,

I'm having a strange problem in my KDE (5.27) installation on Debian testing. I'm a non-standard user who uses English (US) for everything UI related, but use Turkish keyboard layout and locale.

My relevant settings are set as follows:
  • Regional Settings -> Preferred Language: American English
  • Regional Settings -> Region: Turkey
  • Regional Settings -> Spell Check: American English (United States)
  • Regional Settings -> Time Zone: Europe / Istanbul

My default system locale is en_US.UTF-8. When I login from text console, locale is set to en_US.UTF-8, but when I login to KDE, my whole locale changes to tr_TR.UTF-8. This causes some problems show to bi-lingual text interfaces (e.g. Firefox is English, but DownThemAll is Turkish) and creates many other small problems. Is there a way to solve it?

If required, I can submit a bug report.

Thanks in advance,

Hakan

P.S.: I'm using KDE for ~6 years and this has happened recently. Before, this was not a problem.

Hi,
same problem with plasma 5.8.5 with Gentoo .

Regional Settings -> Preferred Language: American English
Regional Settings -> Region: Italy

My default locale is en_US.UTF-8 too, but for Konsole and other kde apps the locale changed to it_IT.UTF-8 .

As reported by Bayindirh this was not a problem before.

Any suggestion ?

I am having the same problem. I live in Germany, but like to have everything in English. I switched all settings to en_GB, but still, some UI elements stay german.

Only thing I figured out so far is this: setting either a second preferred language and/or changing the region setting leads to problems with the language. For me it would change the UI language in some parts.
