I've been out of the loop for a good while now, and I just saw that Ubuntu now uses snap as a default option for software, Firefox is now a snap and the software store now installs snap versions of programs. I don't want to use snap at all and don't like this default implementation.
How does Kubuntu handle snaps? Different or the same? What about KDE Neon?

You can easily choose not to use snap, the default in Kubuntu are the regular package sources.

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

You can always disable snaps altogether (probably not recommended officially).
Code: Select all
sudo apt purge snapd
