I am unable to automount cd's(or DVD's, video DVD's are also not shown in the devices plasmoid) on kde 4 on my gentoo system. Neither kde 4.1 from portage nor kde 4.2_beta1 from kde-crazy overlay do the job. USB flash automounts just fine on both. What could I miss? I have sys-apps/hal-0.5.11-r4 sys-apps/dbus-1.2.3-r1 installed. All services seem to be running. CD-ROM is not in fstab. Automount was working for CD's in 3.5.* (3.5 is not installed atm)

P.S. Solved this problem by enabling hal polling

hal-disable-polling --device /dev/hda --enable-polling

did the trick
