How do I use the KDE4 kdm login manager instead of the KDE3 version?
Is there a how-to somewhere? Thanks.

Install package kdm-kde4
Then do:
And you should get an option to select the default display mgr. Otherwise, you can edit /etc/X11/default-display-manager and set it to /usr/bin/kdm-kde4

Well this is depends on your distro.
LinuxIsInnovation answered that for one distro, but he didn't say which one and you didn't either...

That would work for Kubuntu Intrepid.

in openSuse you would remove the kde3 version "rpm -e kdebase3-kdm" and dl and install the kde4 "rpm -U kde4-kdm" - fyi my experience is that the login systemssettings module doesn't seem to work properly in kde4 where kcontrol and the kde3 kdm work properly under kde4
