On my Kubuntu Laptop (Gutsy), I tried to install a KDE4-environment within an chroot'ed debian, so that I can run two X11-servers parallel: one with native (productive) KDE3, and one with chroot'ed KDE4.
with help from http://wiki.debian.org/Kde4schroot I set up everything and started KDM4 into the chroot - so long. BUT: I my input-devices aren't working: mouse, keyboard aren't responding in this X11. Xorg.1.log in the chroot'ed ENV says, I couln't found any input-devices... ? Does anybody have experience, with setting up a parallel X11/KDE4 within chroot? |

This is probably because the first X server has already claimed the input devices, making them unavailable to the second X. You could try the Xephyr method which was documented by the developer of KDE 4 Daily.

oKay, well - I found an unused partition on my laptop *surpise* and installed Intrepid with KDE 4.14 - very fine
Its not a real solution for this problem, but the best I can do at all to become more confident with kde4, its goodies and bugs |
