The servers were probably busy. If you try again later the speed should be better.

KDE also has a download manager, KGet that could replace "Internet Download Manager"

You would probably be best using a repository to get the KDE packages ( I think there are instructions on Kubuntu's website ) unless you wish to compile it yourself ( which will require a bit of work )

Well, that is more a Ubuntu/Kubuntu question. They provide you with binaries packages of KDE. To install them with apt or GUI Tools for it. You loaded the source archives from the KDE Server. (there are mirrors which are faster btw..) . That is to compile it on your own. But that is not what you want to do (it is compilcated and takes quite some time). But I am sure (though no apt/Ubuntu expert) that it is possible to download the apt packages from Ubuntu/Kubuntu (they are more or less one distro) and use them to install offline on other machines. Ask that in the this big ubuntu forum (forget the URL).

It's hard. I've install KDE 4.2 this morning, speed is good at 4a.m>8a.m: ~160kn/s. Now, it is bad. I will back up apt/archives folder. Thank for your help.
