Timezone does not compute ?

Fri Mar 06, 2009 2:54 am
Hi all,

I'm a newbie to Linux and also the KDE desktop so please be understanding of my question. I can't figure out why something as simple as setting up the time zone to where I live sets the clock 10 hours out. The date is fine but instead of 11:45 it was showing 20:45. Nothing I did changed anything. So I booted in and I booted out. Luckily it didn't reset my laptop's system clock.

I want to give KDE a chance so I hope I find the answer here.

Cheers,
Scooter

You need to configure your system to set the clock to local time instead of UTC time. Windows expects and sets local time, while the default for Linux is usually to use UTC time. Which distribution did you install?
