General info: blocked updates

Tue Mar 31, 2009 8:45 am
Dear all,

every morning I check the KDE updater for any upgrade to be downloaded, and in the window I find a list of "blocked" updates. I don't understand why they are "blocked", can someone explain me why this happens and what should I do with these packages?

In case it is more safe to avoid installing these upgrades, is there a way to tell the updater that they must be removed from the list forever?

Thanks, cheers

Which distribution are you using?
* bcooksley guesses Kubuntu.

That's a KPackageKit bug where it won't install an update if the update also installs new packages.

I went to the command line, and typed:

Code: Select all
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

it installed all of the blocked updates

There is also this from the Kubuntu forums (I am running Kubuntu 9.04):

As mentioned, running the following from terminal installs the updates:

Code: Select all
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
