i installed kde 4 on a box with geforce 2 mx400

glxinfo sas direc rendering yes

glxgears work ok for this card

kde 4.2.85 says that there is config problem when i choose opengl and switches to xrender (which btw is way slower than on my celeron with intel 865)

does kde have some special or higher requirements to use opengl ?

is it supposed to work on mx400 ?

I believe KWin deliberately prevents use of OpenGL effects for certain revisions of NVidia drivers due to serious issues.

is there way to override this ?

I believe Zarin said it is impossible. I think it was done because of the severe instability experienced ( probably due to the X extensions it uses )
