I've already posted this in the Kubuntu forum since that is my OS, but noone seems to know. Sorry if this is not the right place.

My problem is The System Monitor - Network (the plasmoid) worked for me in KDE 4.2.2, but since the new about kde4.2.4 (actually all packages are 4:4.2.90) I added the ppa repo http://ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-ppa/ppa/ubuntu because I wanted to try the latest kde.

Everything works really well, there are many new nice stuff. But a problem I've found is that the System Monitor - Network plasmoid has stopped to work, the sensors on the ksysguard are fine, but the plasmoid sees no interface.

Anyone has had the same problem?, do you know a solution?

Thanks a lot ;D .

Which Solid backend do you have selected in System Settings > Advanced > Hardware?

NetworkManager 0.7 . I read somewhere that this was the correct one.
My other choices are "Wicd" and "Fake Net".

Thanks for the reply.

Can you reproduce with KDE 4.3?

I had a similar issue with the network monitor plasmoid.

Every time I added it to the desktop it would only show an icon and the network interfaces in the settings window would be empty.

I found that if I then restarted plasma-desktop or kde the Widget worked properly from then on.

Worth a try.

"Can you reproduce with KDE 4.3?"

Is it stable enough to use it?

"I found that if I then restarted plasma-desktop or kde the Widget worked properly from then on.

It didn't work for me :(

Now packages of kde were update (accidentally) to the latest version in the repo: 4:4.2.95

Which introduced new luck, now both the System Monitor- Manager and the Task Manager (yes that one!!, cant live without it!) doesn't work. The first one is as usual, and the seconds simply shows no window, no matter the options you select. :P

Thanks.

P.S.: About the task manager, I fix that, it was a partial update. :P

I've had the same. I've found solution when I couldn't connect to internet via wired connection.
I had to go to Network Management and add new wired connection.
After this Network Monitor applet works ok.
