Hello
On my Kubuntu 9.04 I installed the KDE 4.3 RC1 packages from http://ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-ppa/backports/ubuntu. Plasma crashes pretty frequently so I would like to submit bug reports to improve its stability. Here is my latest crash report: http://pastebin.ca/1493085 After reading http://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tutorials/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports#Preparing_your_KDE_packages I understood that to install debug symbols, largely I need plasma*-dbg packages. I know one way would be to build KDE and - especially plasma - from sources, but I am looking for a workaround as I want an easy install and remove procedure for debug symbols on this installation. |

You should install the "libqt4-dbg", "kdelibs5-dbg" and "plasma-dbg" packages, as well as any additional "-dbg" packages for plasmoids you use.

I installed libqt and kdelibs debug symbols using
sudo apt-get install libqt4-dbg kdelibs5-dbg but plasma-dbg is nowhere to be found. However, I have figured out that I should search for packages that contain the libraries with missing symbols ??, here is what I found: ~> dpkg -S plasma_applet_rtm.so plasma-widgets-addons: /usr/lib/kde4/plasma_applet_rtm.so ~> dpkg -S /usr/lib/kde4/plasma_engine_rtm.so plasma-dataengines-addons: /usr/lib/kde4/plasma_engine_rtm.so As I see it, It seems to be related to the 'Remember the Milk' plasmoid. |

Please install the two debug packages for the packages you found.
When you have a full backtrace, please file a bug at bugs.kde.org after ensuring it hasn't already been reported.
