I messed up my Kubuntu install (the BBC iPlayer screwed up sound somehow. As it relies on Adobe AIR, it might of done something KDE didnt like...)
Anyway, I moved to Linux Mint. Trouble is, I have no sound. Now, in Kubuntu, this was normal for me (a bug causes any install from liveUSB to include PulseAudio) and in Kubuntu, I would fix it by removing PulseAudio and installing the GStreamer end to phonon. This would allow system sounds, and sounds from other apps, like VLC and flash videos. However, I can't figure out how to get sound working in Linux Mint KDE community edition. PulseAudio wasnt installed and I've installed the GStreamer end...and yes, I get system sounds, but I don't get music from Amarok. Please, help!

Have you installed the appropriate multimedia codecs? Also, have you made the appropriate selection in System Settings > Multimedia? Could you please try using the Xine backend which is known to have less issues than the GStreamer backend?

Xine selected. I've got sound coming out from both the system and apps. Amarok, however, fails to play anything :S

Is Dragon Player able to play the files in question? Also, can you test with multiple types of files, in case it is broken support for formats such as MP3.

Good man!
Well, I gave up on Linux Mint, mainly because I really didnt want to fiddle around with k3b, which refused to work.
