Hi guys, can you help pls.

I have been encountering problems with my system - been advised to upgrade from 4.2.2 to 4.3 as it may well resolve these issues - namely with the KDE system Guard which keeps refreshing its self continuously along with other quarks.

When i try to carry out the install this is what i get several conflicts can not be resolved - or am i doing something wrong here.

(dolphin-4.3.0-105.1.i586 req libqt4 4.5.2 but this requirement cannot be provided)
(unsustainable provider libqt4-4.5257.1 --- Factory Destop)
the following action will be done:-
do not install dolphin 4.3.0 etc etc etc various up to 10 times

(kdebase4-4.3.0 -105. 1 .i586 req libqt4 4.5.2 but this requirement cannot be provided)
(unsustainable provider libqt4-4.5257.1

etc etc and so on -
and so on and son. get the picture can any one provide a resolution which is not over complicated so a mere human like my self can put to work and get my system back on track without a complete reinstall from scratch.

Sorry i was not able to send any attachments to give a more in depth picture. Do hope you can help.

Many thanks

Hi,

it might be a problem with your repositories. What repos have you installed?

I think you have:
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE%3a/KDE4%3a/Factory%3a/Desktop/openSUSE_11.1/

You might use one of those once to update Qt and the deactivate it again. I'm not sure which it the right.
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE%3a/Qt45/openSUSE_11.1/
OR
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE%3a/Qt/openSUSE_11.1/

Good luck

openSUSE packagers take the decision of rename several KDE important packages so upgrade is really problematic.

Please, take care that packages name kde4-* are now only *, for example, "kde4-amarok" are now "amarok". I don't know if there is an automatic mode to upgrade and I don't search for it, I solve all problem dependencies by hand.

And yes, still exists packages required named kde4-*..., I'm not sure but seems like linux it's now so easy that some people wants good old days back. It's a joke ;).

Hi Thomas
Many thanks for your input it was very good of you to reply
Well to update you now
I have progressed greatly from your input and am now only 6 issues away from a resolution :-

kdegames4-4.2 2 55-9 requires kdebase4-runtime 42. 6.0 but this requirement cannot be provided
(deleted providers kdebase4- runtime 4 2 2 97. 1 i586. [@system]
but this requirement cannot be provided)
kde4-kscd
kdeorganiser
shalite-03 kde4
kde4-plasma-addons
kde4-okular
The above are the outstanding issue when failing ther install of KDe4.3 any further suggestions here.

Thanks

Hi Guys
Success at last - found what was holding things up - needed to check and check again and read instructions time and time again.

However what could make things a lot easer is that there was not so much unwanted info displaid at the conflic stage of the install process was a bit confusing.
As it would have saved a lot of time - but that is just me

Thanks again for your help.
