Hi all.

I use Arch Linux with KDE 4.3.1 and Qt 4.5.2. I have Intel X3100 video card with driver 2.6.3. Some icons in system tray are not shown (for example, USA flag of english keyboard layout, amarok 1.4 icon, opera, etc).



It happens only with 2.6.3 intel driver. If I use new driver (2.8) the problem disappears. But with new driver everything works slowly therefore i use older.

So, how can I fix it with old driver?

This is an issue with the graphics drivers themselves unfortunately. You may wish to play with some of the options available as they may affect its behaviour.

I've solved a problem with USA flag by adding an alpha channel to /usr/share/locale/l10n/us/flag.png like in /usr/share/locale/l10n/ru/flag.png. After this it's displayed correctly)

About a month ago I've submitted bug about this https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=206919 . It's a pity you haven't found it earlier. I suppose the best practice would be to submit bugs, were we can have central place for solving problems. I've already reported about your findings.

I have two following options set in my xorg.conf.
Option "AccelMethod" "EXA"
Option "MigrationHeuristic" "greedy"

Do you have they also? As far as I know they are no more supported but inter driver developers. But these options give me very good performance. Earlier I had also problems with icons in systray. That was also intel driver bug, but they didn't want to fix it since "AccelMethod" "EXA" is already deprecated.
