Hello all !!
I installed Debian Testing with KDE4.3.1, I have two fixed partition on the hard drive, I start Dolphin and when I click on the second partition to open it appears an error message: "org.freedesktop.hal.device.volume.permissiondenied, refusing to mount /dev/hda5 for uid=1000". I don't want to use /etc/fstab so I read many docs about hal-dbus without success. Do you know how can I solve it? Thanks a lot. |

You need to grant either the appropriate DBus or PolicyKit permissions so that HAL can be authorized to perform the mounting for your user ( it has the appropriate permissions itself, but will only do them if your user has the permission to )

Do you know what config files I must modify on debian?
For example in Kubuntu when I click in dolphin on the fixed partition there's a kdesu-window that request root password to gain authorization... In Debian I don't know how to do this. Thanks a lot. |

Unfortunately I do not know the exact procedure for this. Are you sure it is a KDE Su window and not a PolicyKit window?

I solved it!
I upgraded package hal to the newer version in Debian Testing and now all it's ok with hal-dbus. I can mount fixed partitions in Dolphin with a click.... very well. Bye. |
