Hello,
I am currently upgrading from the elderly KDE 4.0.5 running on xorg-server 1.5.3 and fglrx (I have a RadeonHD 2400 Pro) to KDE 4.3.4/xorg-server 1.7.3/radeon (xf86-video-ati 6.12.x). On my old system, I used to switch between many resolutions using Ctrl+Alt+Plus, but on my new system I have fewer resolutions and Ctrl+Alt+Plus doesn't work. So, that's a two-part problem. I couldn't find any info about Ctrl+Alt+Plus not working, so for the time being I'm switching via the Display settings. Which brings me to the second issue: some resolutions are missing. I have looked into Xorg.0.conf and found that not all of my old resolutions were detected by the new driver. "Not a problem" I thought, "I'll just add new resolutions to xorg.conf." Now I have added the resolution I wanted to use to xorg.conf, but it doesn't appear in the Display settings. The only way for me to use this resolution is to manually add it using xrandr:
So, here are my questions:
Some files: Thanks for any info! |

KDE "auto detects" the resolutions, through the RAndR extension provided by X. Thus, you will need to either convince the driver that the resolutions are supported, or run on login, a script which uses "xrandr" to add the needed modes.
It is likely that Ctrl + Alt + (+) is a driver specific shortcut, or is provided by running "krandrtray", which provides convenience access to the display module settings through the system tray.

In the end, I've created a script in /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc.d that adds the resolution via xrandr.
I couldn't find how to re-enable Ctrl+Alt+Plus but I guess I should be able to create a shortcut in KDE that would execute a script that rotates the available resolution. |
