Now I'm back up again with a fresh install of Kubuntu 9.10. I want to upgrade to 4.4 but every supposed good idea always result in a black screen.
What is the way to update KDE to 4.4?? I've added to the software sources, did the update - Black screen every time. -Jazmac

Can you please describe at what stage the KDE startup fails?

I get a black screen when I reboot. I added the ppa to the source then updated. When the updates were done, I rebooted. Logged in just fine. Then I get the black screen with a popup saying plasma did not load. That happens every time. I then ran konsole and installed plasma-desktop and this last time the graphics looked 16bit. I reinstalled kubuntu again. Generally after the second attempt I figure this is NOT the way to do this. The third attempt is just out of frustration. Can't keep doing the same thing and expect a different result but these are the instructions to update right? I don't have anything installed except for Firefox so what am I missing? -Jazmac |

Plasma-Desktop shouldn't have been removed in the first place.
Make sure plasma-desktop, krunner and kwin are all installed.

All those processes are running. As they should since its a fresh install. What I need to figure out is how to update KDE properly and not have to reinstall another time.

I found a solution that worked on another site.
I seem to be good. Thanks -Jazmac |
