KDE registers my sound hardware as a HDA NVidia ALC663
There are three items in the Multimedia catagory in System Settings; HDA NVidia (ALC663 Analog) HDA NVidia (ALC663 Digital) HDA NVidia. NVIDIA HDMI (HDMI output) PulseAudio KDE has just informed me that the first does not work. All applications (except Amarok, which have been running before this error) can no longer play sound. After looking at the Multimedia settings pane again, here is what I see; HDA NVidia (ALC663 Analog) HDA NVidia (ALC663 Analog) #1 HDA NVidia. NVIDIA HDMI (HDMI output) PulseAudio No applications, from Dragon Player to VLC, can play audio. But Amarok can. Then sometimes, Amarok can't. I havent got a damn clue whats happening here. Please help!

Does "testing" the other options work? Are you using KDE 4.4? ( this has enhanced Pulseaudio support included )

I was greeted with a dialog box, telling me that the Analog #1 device was removed and asking if I wanted KDE to forget about that device.
The Multimedia pane is back to normal. It's probably worth noting I've got a lot of sound manipulation software here (Kdenlive, audacity, VLC, pacpl) No, sadly not, I'll have to wait till April!
