Whether I have automatic login or manual login, once the password is typed, KDE desktop starts up (both failsafe KDE and regular KDE sessions)
- displays the green chameleon logo and progress bar, on my primary laptop LCD screen - after about 25% completion, the screen resets and now the window is extended to the larger 21" monitor and the chameleon moves over there - progress bar proceeds up to 50% and then the KDE startup pauses and stays paused forever. No hard disk activity. Where do I start troubleshooting this situation? I am able to log into the system from another computer. All services seem to have been started perfectly from Linux point of view, except the desktop window manager. Perhaps remove .kde* from my home directory and start afresh? - OpenSUSE 11.2, default KDE version and online-updated on March 16, 2010. - nx7400 laptop, xinerama, dual-head setup (laptop's LCD and an external 21" monitor) - Intel 945GM video chipset, 3D acceleration works nicely - KDE works with xorg.conf that clones the desktop onto two monitors - GNOME works perfectly fine in this xinerama, dual-head setup - sax2 is able to come up with the configuration for dual-head without any problems. Dual had setup: 11.2/KDE setup with primary LCD screen worked only in x11failsafe mode and that had been the issue ever since I installed Opensuse 11.2. Perhaps the recent updates may have fixed that problem... Now, if I have x11failsafe option enabled, only the laptop-LCD works and the second monitor does not get used (cloned or xinerama). If I don't have x11failsafe, the cloned mode seems to work well. |

If you create a new user, does the login complete successfully?
