running kdm or xdm causes frozen mouse and keyboard. dbus and hald start up when the system boots. i tried Xorg -configure, mv /root/xorg.conf.new /etc/X11/xorg.conf and sh NVIDIA.run to install the graphics drivers and touch up the xorg.conf. it is bypassing the keyboard and mouse due to AllowEmptyInput. i've tried to touch up my xorg.conf to include: AllowEmptyInput "0" ... and "AutoAddDevices" "off", and Load "evdev". in the /etc/rc.conf i added enable_evdev="true"(if thats not correct how do i add it?) im stuck i've read every forum regarding this issue. all replies to posts with this problem were solved with enabling hald and dbus, in my case these are not the issues. i also emerged xf86-input-keyboard,mouse. i reemerged xorg-server also. trying to get the latest emerged kde4 to work.
Athlon x2 64 6000+ 3.0ghz 2gig ram currently using the onboard geforce 6100 im using my laptop and cant copy paste or attach confs but i can compare it to an issue on another forum. on arch-general forums here > http://www.pubbs.net/archlinux/200904/46153/ < the /var/log/xorg.0.log kinda looks like mine in that: > (WW) AllowEmptyInput is on, devices using drivers 'kbd', 'mouse' or 'vmmouse' > will be disabled. > (WW) Disabling Keyboard0 > (WW) Disabling Mouse0 is it because of my user status? i added users and wheel and audio but nothign else. do i have to recreate my user? |

You should set the following. Also, remove the "AllowEmptyInput" line.
"AutoAddDevices" "on"
KDE Sysadmin
