Just a quick question, but is there a tool to display hardware information and drivers in use? I'm leaning towards a GUI app, rather then a CLI....

Have you tried KInfoCenter?

And as an alternative to KInfoCenter, there's an app called HardInfo. Gtk-based, but shows some info kinfocenter doesn't like kernel modules, environment variables, more detailed cpu-info, temperatures, fan speeds, and network statistics.
