Both my laptop and netbook sleep when the laptop lid is closed, but not if the screen is locked. This is problematic because if the computer is in sleep mode and then the lid is opened, but I decide not to use it, I can't just close the lid to put it back to sleep. I have to first unlock it, then put the laptop back to sleep.
I've done the usual internet and forum searching trying to figure out how to resolve this, with no success. I figured asking my question on the official KDE forum would be the most productive means of getting to the bottom of this. |

It is probable this is a bug in PowerDevil, KDE's power manager. Please ensure you are using KDE 4.4.3 then report a bug at bugs.kde.org.

Thanks for the suggestion. I am indeed using KDE 4.4.3. I searched the bug tracker and found a possible fix for this posted to one of the bug reports within the last 24 hours or so.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=205453 I'll have to give this patch a try tonight from home, my netbook would probably take all day to re-build it Thanks again! I'll post here to let everyone know if this works.

I couldn't wait, I went ahead and built it on my netbook anyway. The patch worked. I went ahead and filed a bug report with Arch Linux to notify the maintainer.
