Is there an issue with .fonts.conf?
After upgrading to Lucid Lynx my desktop fonts are fuzzy. I use Verdana and .fonts.conf from https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Fonts Verdana is a bitmap font and showed correctly as such in Firefox and Chrome but not in Konqueror nor anywhere on the desktop. I'll be glad for any help... |

Please try removing the contents of ~/.fontconfig outside KDE.

I emptied ~/.fontconfig, exited kde, restarted X and logged in again.
Desktop fonts looks the same. In desktop font setup I use Verdana everywhere. See http://bayimg.com/DAmJHaAcp |

Now I lost all bitmap rendering.
No verdana bitmap on desktop, dolphin, chrome or firefox. |

This means that those applications were using cached versions of the Verdana font. Please ensure that bitmap rendering is enabled as specified in the Ubuntu Wiki directions.

Sorry To be confusing here...
It seems that it is the ttf fonts I want to work. As of now Verdana is shown correctly in Chrome and Firefox (http://bayimg.com/iamLEAaCP) but is aliased on the desktop for size 10 (http://bayimg.com/IamLGAaCP). Before upgrading to Lucid Lynx the desktop font verdana was rendered the same on desktop and in browsers. |

Please check that Font Anti-Aliasing is set to Enabled in System Settings > Appearance > Fonts.
