unintended root privileges

Thu Jul 08, 2010 5:41 pm
If I right-click on a file & go to "open with" what ever application I choose has root authority. If I open the same app. from the menu it dose not.
Is this a problem with the .local/share/applications desktop files?

example ---------------------

[Desktop Entry]
Categories=GTK;AudioVideo
Comment=Edit your Videos
Exec[$e]=avidemux2_gtk
GenericName=GTK+ Video Editor
Icon=avidemux
InitialPreference=11
MimeType=video/mpeg;video/x-mpeg;video/x-avi;application/x-flash-video;application/x-shockwave-flash;video/flv;video/x-msvideo;application/x-kdeuser3;application/x-kdeuser4;video/mp4
Name=Avidemux (GTK+)
Terminal=false
TryExec=avidemux2_gtk
Type=Application

I have never seen a case of this occurring. Can you reproduce under a new user?
