Hi,
on my computer (Mandriva Linux 2010.0/2010.1) the sessions/ directory for KDM is in : /usr/share/apps/kdm/sessions I would know whether this is a distribution specific feature or whether the KDM sessions/ directory is localized in this same place in the file system throughout all Linux distributions. Thanks. |

So there seems to be no standard.

Upstream KDE defines that the session directory should be $PREFIX/share/apps/kdm/sessions, where $PREFIX is the installation prefix, usually /usr. Some distributions however disagree with this placement however, and modify their packages to use a kde4/ sub-directory instead: $PREFIX/share/apps/kde4/kdm/sessions.
I do not know why they do this however. As far as I have seen though, these are the only two variants I have seen. KDE Upstream itself does not use $PREFIX/share/apps/kde4/
