Thu Sep 16, 2010 5:44 pm
Hi ,

I am new to kde programming and planning to contribute to it . I could download the sources from svn . I am running a ubuntu 10.04 . I am unable to build the kde . Can anyone please provide some links or howto's for solving the issue.

compiling from source http://techbase.kde.org/Getting_Started ... index.html

contributing to the development http://kde.org/community/getinvolved/development/

note: "In most cases, you will want to download, compile and install KDE trunk (our development tree) to start developing. Read the unstable building guide. If you get stuck or get errors, that's OK. You might not need to compile the whole set of applications, but getting started is a good step."

This how-to was NOT made properly, it's unreadable. People need commands that they can just copy and paste into terminal. I hope you will note and fix this.

I did not write it, I do not compile kde but if you did compile it and have suggestions and/or enhancements for the documentation then please forward them to the appropriate parties

I wrote a howto some time ago: http://hanschen.org/2010/01/20/building ... -from-svn/

It's a bit outdated (kdesvn-build is called kdesrc-build now), but it should still work if you use the 1.12 sample file.

The official guide for kdesrc-build can be found here: http://techbase.kde.org/Getting_Started ... esvn-build

Are you attempting a highly parallel build? If so, try performing a non-parallel build.
