I'd been using kubuntu 10.04 for a while when I decided it was a bit too buggy for me. I kept it around in addition to gnome, which was my main desktop, but since I've upgraded to 10.10 I've been longing for KDE. Is your wireless card detected? Please provide the output of "lspci" and "iwconfig".
I think Apple products use Broadcom chipsets, which except for the very latest N cards, with the latest Linux Kernel, are not supported unless you load firmware.
