Hi folks I have written a lot of times about kde versions upgrade (update) in kubuntu, for instance kubuntu 10.10 (from the official kde 4.5.1 to the current ver. 4.5.3). Simply it is matter of chance. On some computers is went well ( i mean the kde upgrade), on the others ( with the same official kubuntu ver.) it was failed.
Simply i added the next two lines in /etc/apt/sources.list filel: deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-ppa/ppa/ubuntu maverick main deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-ppa/ppa/ubuntu maverick main In the console i gave the next commands: sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get dist-upgrade So what is the wrong here ? Any clue. Thanks in advance. Fahd 101113 |

What in particular has broken? If you create a new user, does it work? Also, what graphics does your computer have?

Hej,
I know about the problem with KDE upgrades to new .point(.point) releases in kubuntu. I often run into the same problems. Apt fails to resolve all dependencies correctly or the setup for some packages fail. But each time I get it work by repeatedly running: > apt-get dist-upgrade or > apt-get -f dist-upgrade During my last upgrade to 4.5.3 I had to reinstall some package apt had to remove during the upgrade process. But I never went into a corrupt system. |
