Hello,
I'm an arch linux and kde user that recently run into some problems after I had upgraded my system. I can't start kdm anymore and in my kdm.log I get the following error message: KCrash: Application 'kdmgreet' crashing... KCrash: Attempting to start /usr/lib/kde4/libexec/drkonqi directly How can I solve this problem? I don't know where to start so I would really appreciate some help. I have tried to reinstall kde without success. |

Which version have you tried to install? Do you have a backtrace?

I have tried to update to the newest kde version in the repository 4.5.3-1. I don't have a backtrace. How can I make one with e.g. gdb and what executable should I backtrace? Haven't done anything like this before but found on google that drkonqi should make a backtrace for me. Where do I find the bt if that is the case.

DrKonqi appears to be being launched, but for unknown reasons, appears to not be showing ( likely due to X going down as the DM has gone down )
The executable to backtrace is "kdmgreet", not sure how you can attach on to it though if X / kdm autostarts it.
