problems with cursor themes

Wed Feb 02, 2011 2:13 pm
I am currently running kubuntu 10.10. after installing other x11 cursor themes (anything beyond oxygen colors), the cursor animations get mixed up. During certain points, it will show the wrong cursor theme. I cant seem to figure out how to post a picture here, so I hope I am making the problem clear enough. For example, when opening a new application, it will show the cursor for oxygen cursor instead of the correct cursor theme.

I had seen this problem in previous kubuntu versions, but I wasn't consistently using kde till now.

As a side note, I posted this problem in ubuntu forums as well. However, I have noticed that nobody looks at posts that do not involve the default gnome interface. I am hoping for better support here. Any help is appreciated. ^-^

Have you logged out and in again after changing theme? Restarted Xorg?

Yes, restarting / logging out has no effect. By the way, the incorrect theme can even be seen in the cursor preview. I have checked the actual cursor files, and everything is correct - so the system is reading it incorrectly somehow. =/
