newbest question possible! lol. how do i install 4.6.2

I've been trying to find the link for it, but only find build packs and nothing else. Im on KDE now, and my brother got the new one, and he wont tell me jack for some reason!

can anyone help me out? and i apologize now for my density. If anyone can help thanks!

Which distribution are you using? Most mainstream distributions usually provide packages of the latest version of KDE.

Hi there,

the more info you give us, the better the help you are going to get.

In this case we need to know which exact operating system you are working on. The easiest way to get the latest KDE is of course to download something like the Kubuntu Live CD and install it on your system :)

I have KDE 10.10, but not this new plasma desktop. I just put in a new repository and downloaded 180 updates. but not this 4.6.2 lol

Hmm, you probably have Kubuntu 10.10, as KDE 5 hasn't even been released yet, let alone KDE 10....

Please see http://www.kubuntu.org/news/kde-sc-4.6.2 for the information needed to upgrade to KDE 4.6.2.

you see ive done that, but i seem to be running through circles. ive done the PPA business and did the repository download. but the desktop seems to have stayed the same completely.

You will need to logout and back in again after completing the update for it to take effect.

If you are already on Kubuntu I'd recommend you check out www.kubuntuforums.net

There you will find a number of threads dealing with that particular issues. Also, it is a very helpful and friendly forum.

LOL! shouldve had a v8! after looking through the updates and what not, its not that big of a deal. lol. but i did it!
