Hi, my lab was recently upgraded from debian/lenny to ubuntu/maverick. The administrator runs GDM (and was before). I was previously using KDE 3.5 on these machines and am now using KDE 4.5.5. When I locked the screen, other users used to be able to start a new session to login, but that option isn't available anymore on KDE 4.5.5. I tried installing the fast user switcher applet, but it also doesn't give the option to start a new session.
What can I install to be able to switch users? Is there a gdm-kdmcompat? |

If you are using KDM does the switch user button show up on your session locked window?

I'll ask my admin to put KDM on temporarily. Not sure how cooperative they'll be. Is there any dbus call or something I can use to probe GDM to make sure it's set up to work with KDE? FWIW, the gnome users have a switch user button.

I believe KDM and GDM use seperate and different specifications to interact with the desktop environment. If GDM is registered on D-Bus, it will likely be on the system bus. (qdbus --system)
