Kubuntu on Mac?

Thu Sep 01, 2011 6:19 pm
Hello!
I have recently purchased an iMac i5 mid 2011.
I love it, the issue is.... I miss KDE so much.
I want to dual boot.
So, I have installed Reefit and partitioned my partitions with Disk Utility.
I installed Linux first.
It showed up in ReeFIt no problems, then when I installed Windows 7, Kubuntu now does not show up in the boot menu.
The partition is still there, I did not format it or anything.
In Disk Manager, I can still see it by the name of:disk0s5.
Please help me to get it to show back up in ReeFIt, thanks!

ALSO:

How do I make it so that when I boot into Kubuntu it syncs with my Magic Mouse and wireless keyboard (Both are from Apple. They are blue tooth) and when I reboot into OSX it will sync with them no problems.
Before my Linux partition disappeared from my boot loader I tried to use both my keyboard and mouse in Kubuntu, when I would get it working into Kubuntu I would boot in to OSX and it would need to be re recognized, then if I booted back into Kubuntu I would need to reconnect it again.

I'm using Maverik Meerkat. (I would use Natty Narwal but it is far too buggy)
Thanks very very much!

when you installed Windows 7 after Linux 7 overwrote grub (cause thats what MS does), if you Google you'll see things like this http://apcmag.com/how_to_dualboot_vista ... talled.htm and http://lifehacker.com/5531037/how-to-tr ... p-required

no experience on this kind of thing seems you can recreate Grub using super grub disk (no idea if it'll work or what it will break), post on a Mac or reefit forum or reinstall Kubuntu (guessing this is the safest)

Please use a bit more descriptive subject (terms like dual boot, reefit, missing in boot menu) in the future.

The syncing really should be a separate thread. I'd guess in the Network Management -> manage connections -> edit the blue tooth connection -> click "connect automatically", again don't have so I'm guessing

Hey.
Im tripple booting.
OSX first then Linux then Windows.
A reinstall of Linux might do it.
Just wondering why it is doing it on my iMac as my Macbook did it just fine in the same order.
Thanks anyway.
