Linux-Distro with rolling updates

Wed Sep 14, 2011 3:28 pm
Can someone tell me a to Kubuntu comparable Linux-Distro with a rolling update and upgrade? I am fed up with waiting up to 7 months for a new fullgrade Upgrade in conjunction with a Distro-Upgrade. When a new Gimp version appears, I want it quickly, same with KMyMoney, etc.

Thanks for any tipps.

Best greetings from Scotland's nicest holiday island.

doesn't Kubuntu have backport repos which provides updated versions of apps and don't 3rd parties also (ex gimp http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/?p=19301)

rolling release - you can start here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rolling_release as there's a list

there's been a recent proposeal about Ubuntu switching to a 1 month release cycle http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=n ... &px=OTg5MQ

By Kubuntu comparable if you mean a KDE based distro, then you have the following:
1. PCLinuxOS
2. Chakra

openSUSE has recently introduced a rolling release, Tumbleweed, http://en.opensuse.org/Portal:Tumbleweed but that means leaving a Debian based distro.

Tumbleweed, great name :)

@ Arran
Mind that its KDE is not themed but vanilla quite unlike Kubuntu. fwiw I might give Chakra a try one of these days.
