Hey guys. I recently installed Qbittorrent and unpacked it using YaST (I'm using OpenSUSE). Now after the first computer restart after the install I get past the GRUB menu then I'm treated with this error message: kstartupconfig4 does not "exist" or fails the error code is 127. I've done tons of searching trying multiple options with no luck whatsoever. I've come down to a faulty package install.
People have also said to try "zypper" commands in the command line but every time I do I receive: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6: undefined symbol:....... I've heard people say my GCC is an old version and to type in wget inserturlhereof.zip in to the command line, however when I do that I get: failed: Network is unreachable. (I don't think this would have solved the problem anywhay). Again, this all happened right after I installed qbittorrent and preceded to restart my computer my next step would be to uninstall the packages that came with qbittorrent when i downloaded it however I can't find which packages those are. Can someone please t give any insight into what might be causing this problem? I'm quite the Linux noob so far so please be kind to me . |

Oh dear.
It appears that something bad has definitely happened. Can you verify the permissions of ~/.kde4/ as well as /var/tmp and /tmp. Also, try running "kstartupconfig4" by hand - it is possible that it is affected by the same error as zypper is.

as for the code for just /tmp a lot of code comes up and I'm typing this all by hand seeing as I can't copy and paste so I'm not sure which important info you need from there but it looks like most files have drwx.. while others have more.. if you need anything clarified from /tmp just let me know. As for tracking down kstartupconfig4 by hand I typed in:
seeing as I'm actually not sure where that would be located? Am I going about the right way to track it down? I'm still a little new at my shell commands. |

kstartupconfig4 should be located at /usr/bin/kstartupconfig4.
If it is missing, then your KDE installation appears to have been heavily damaged - along with Zypper with the installation of QBittorrent (which was likely not compiled for your release of openSUSE - and has caused YaST to make many changes to your system which has broken quite a few components). At this point, it would likely be best to use a Live CD to perform a backup of /home if it is not a seperate partition and to simply reinstall. If /home is a seperate partition then all your settings and data should be retained. It seems that you usually login as the user 'john'. If this is not the case (and you login as root) then the above advice regarding backups *does not* apply. You will need to backup /root instead - and it will not be on a seperate partition.

Yeah I figured I would have to go in and pop in the 'ol OpenSUSE install DVD again. When I get the new install going can you recommend a good torrent program for Linux? I only went with Qbittorrent because someone else had talked highly of it, unless one is already built into the OpenSUSE KDE environment? Either way I'll probably just search with YaST and see what I can find.
Thanks for the quick responses. You've been a great help. |

I myself have had good results with Transmission - which has both Qt and Gtk based interfaces (and is daemon based - so it can run on a headless server as well, with the UI on your computer)
