Klipper is not working  Topic is solved

Tue Mar 27, 2012 10:39 am
Klipper suddenly stop working when I pressed Ctrl+C. This is the second time this happens to me and I solved the problem, last Oct 13, loosing all my personal configuration. Some additional information:

  • With other (and new) users Klipper is working.
  • Gtk clipboard programs are working as expected.
  • Stopping keyboard services, removing configuration and starting the services again didn't solved the problem.
  • As far I could see, there is no difference in working configuration files and not working configuration files.
  • I used "grep -lr Ctrl *" to locate keyboard configuration files plus klipperrc.
  • I'm using openSUSE 11.3 with KDE 4.8.1 but last time I was using some KDE 4.7 version.

This is annoying because I don't want to loose all my configuration again so any clues to fix this problem would be appreciated.

if you right click -> copy does Klipper copy work?

if you use the alternative shortcut (default is ctrl+ins) does Klipper copy work?\

No to both.

It is possible that you inadvertently instructed Klipper to exit or it crashed, and a subsequent logout/login cycle started it back up again. Did you ensure it was present in the system tray after it stopped working?

Yes, I restart system and even test Klipper with other users and, with other users in the same system, works fine.

Even when Klipper don't react to Ctrl+C,X,V works when I'm using d-bus so, as far I could see, the problem is at keyboard level. Maybe an interaction with UIM's qt module solved because I wrote something in Japanese :-\.

If you manage to get this issue to recur (the keyboard input manager is a plausible suspect) please do try restarting Klipper to see if that fixes the issue.

I did this test too, several times, with some system restart and I reinstall related kde packages but no luck until yesterday, when I detected Klipper was working again :-/.
