This was caused I believe by a change to the Device Notifier settings which I suspect came in with KDE 4.8.1, now I have it set to display all devices my Canon camera shows up OK.
Apologies if this is the wrong forum board. I am running Fedora 16 with KDE 4.8.1 and now when I turn on my Canon SX10IS the Device Notifier popup which was happening before and showed my camera with 3 options to use (File Manager, Digikam and Gwenview) does not appear. My camrera is still usable from Digikam for photo download. I have checked System Settings for both device actions which correctly shows camera for these 3 application, and Camera which shows my camera when connected but all options when left clicked on are greyed out. What I'd like to do is to get the Device Notifier showing the 3 options again as I did not always want to use Digicam and it's much more convenient to select from the popup. I cannot be sure as I dont use the camera everyday as to when this started but I believe it happened when I went to 4.8.1 of KDE in F16 earlier this month. Is this a design change (in which case I feel it is a backward step), a bug or perhaps even a config option I have missed? Stuart |

Glad that you figured it out.
Still, as this has nothing to do with accessibility, I'll move it to the workspace forum. Best regards, Peter |
